Consistency. We hear a lot talk about it and How it is a necessary ingredient in any form of Success. Truth though is this:
50% of people have given up on their #Goals by mid-January.
80% By the 1st of Feb. (Resource)
Why is this? How come it is so hard to stay on track and Do.The.Work. needed to reach our Goals?
These are just some questions we need to find solutions to. One of the main insights that I often give in my Coaching is that it is always more important to know How To get back on track when we fall, instead of desperately trying to stay on a tightrope that constantly throws you off balance.
(And by the way, I personally have never been a huge fan of trying to reach balance or equilibrium anyways).
Here is the first Consistency Principle to Get back on track and appreciate the Process more.
Consistency Principles: Accountability
The principle is obvious. Yet there are more layers to it. Meaning that often when we hear the word accountability we think of Coaches, Trainers, and friends alike who can keep us accountable.
Also, other external accountability factors like signing up for a challenge and deadlines act as good accountability measures to keep us on track.
Yet there is a lot more powerful factor. The one that plays a more important role, which is Internal Accountability.
As Chris Shambrook asked in our Lifestyle Mastery Podcast Episode No. 27 Are you going to do what you say you are going to Do?
It is a question that leaves you with no escape route. Raw and honest responsibility for your own actions.

Identity & Lifestyle
This is where we are going to take a Deep Dive. Most problems with Consistency arise when the going gets tough. When the Motivation runs out is when we often quit.
One big reason is that we have made the process mostly about the achievement of the Goal and nothing else. So, the Process lacks depth.
To fix this we should aim first to Internally become a different person at the level of our Identity. We start to change the way we see ourselves in relation to the achievement (Goal).
This Identity-based Mindset takes the Focus out of the Outcome and places the concentration on a Process.
Because Identity change does not have a date, time, or defined destination attached to it, it means we must find the meaning of the Process. To become a different person via the Path of Change.
Externally, we make the process more about the desired #Lifestyle, and less about the Goal itself.
This is an extremely powerful insight when you truly embody it. Not just knowing it, but living and deeply feeling it!
It might not land all the way with you today, but believe me, it will when you give it some time and thought.
Responsibility
The last two consistency Principles travel hand in hand too. One Internal and another more External.
Responsibility is my personal favorite for the year 2023. To stay consistent with our actions and on track towards our Goals we must feel and have a sense of #Responsibility. And this means towards both, Process, AND the Outcome(s)!
Example: To become a healthy person, is to take (more) Responsibility for your health. To lose weight is to take Responsibility and accept the current situation. Stop blaming genetics or environmental conditions.
So, Are you going to Do what you say you are going to Do?
Purpose
At least for me personally, my own Goals are not motivating enough anymore…
I still want to achieve and Perform at my best, yet there is a larger meaning in the equation. The motivation that we get from giving and living on Purpose is inherently a more sustainable fuel source too.
Attach a bigger and contributing meaning to Consistency.
Something that is Not about you anymore. That is where the #Purpose comes to play.
Goals are what we get from the world; Purpose is what we give.
When you are about or have fallen off track (again), come back to your Purpose and the Mission statement that defines your actions and reasons for consistency!
