Embrace the Truth, Grind or the Reality is another way of putting it. This is the definite difference maker between average and World Class. The #1 Success Element for High Achievers.
But it needs to be Fun and Enjoyable they say? I get that, if what we are here to do is not enjoyable in the long term, we more than likely wont have the grit or motivation to push for it.
Hear me out though, when I say Embrace the Rain, I mean more in the short term and in the building face of our wanted behaviors. Let’s use the example from our daily routines. As in what is the difference between the Good and the Bad habits?
The Bad habits have an Instant hit of Gratification and Pleasure coupled with a Delayed Reality Response.
Think of Smoking, Eating unhealthy food like products that have nothing to do with needed nutrition or watching too much TV and Entertainment instead investing in your own education by reading books.
Bad habits usually give you an Instant hit of Dopamine and other pleasure hormones. As you take that first puff from the cigarette or bite your teeth into those highly processed sugary donuts, your body is flooded with Instant hit of Gratification.
Whereas with the Good Habits you often encounter Instant Resistance and are having to Embrace the Rain for a certain period before receiving your desired results in a manner of Delayed Gratification.
Embrace Consistency
Now, It does not have to necessarily Suck every time when thinking of doing something that have a positive outcome. Very often though, especially in the building face of positive habits, that is the case.
I wrote about consistency previously here and made a Vlog post about it here.
Think of wanting to go to the Gym, Eating healthy Foods like Green Leafy Vegetables or waking up at 5 am. They all have the starting period that we can label as “Embrace the Rain“.
The beauty of this game though, lies in the Consistent daily implementation. To train our brain & nervous system to learn the new rhythm.
Once we are able to turn this period of temporarily down pour into a positive feedback loop that fires and wires on its own, we have developed it into a habit.
Scientist call this a Point of Automaticity. It means that it is easier to do the habit than Not to do it.
I can give you an example of my Meditation habit. I had to train my brain & body to sit down each morning for over 60 Days. To be able to now be in a state that, If I miss a day or two, the little cushion in our quiet space of the house has a pull that almost forces me to meditate.
And I also truly enjoy this short and extremely beneficial time with me, my thoughts and about 20 min of Time.
Conclusion
If you can avoid the rain, Great! It is just that often we get wet when it comes to building positive habits, outcomes and producing real long-term results into the world.
Embrace the Rain & Delay the Gratification, and you are way ahead of the rest of the pack.
I just wish I had learned this consciously when I was younger. Saying that though, our up bringing dictates on how we see, think and feel about the rainy days.
Where in your own personal or professional life you need to Embrace the rain more and use the power of Delayed Gratification? It’s time to start building positive habits that will deliver and benefit your long-term success.
Is it building those healthy eating habits, possibly your ability to have tough conversations with your loved ones or colleagues at work? Or is it getting off Social media and writing content that people can actually benefit from?
In the end of the day, every person that we see being Successful in their own terms, had to in some point of the other Embrace the Rain to be able to be where they are currently.
And after that it truly becomes about the Enjoyment of the Journey itself!
Are you Ready for the ride?
All Green Lights,
Tuomo
